As required by evolving EU regulations, a Digital Product Passport (DPP) links every physical product to a structured digital record of its compliance, sustainability, and lifecycle data.

Every Digital Product Passport starts as a central profile where all required information for a product comes together: material composition, supply chain origin, environmental indicators, conformity declarations, user manuals, and care or repair instructions.
With itemactive, you structure product records using templates, sync existing attributes from your ERP or PIM, and define shared data once at the model level so batches and individual units inherit it automatically.

To make the passport accessible from anywhere, each record receives a unique, persistent web address (such as a GS1 Digital Link). Depending on your product category, this identifier can point to an entire product model, a production batch, or a single serialized unit.

Next, the unique web link is encoded into a physical data carrier, typically a QR code, a DataMatrix code, or an NFC tag. The carrier is placed directly on the product, its care label, a machine nameplate, or the packaging so the link stays with the product throughout its lifecycle.
